ศิษยาภิบาล
ศาสนาจารย์สุพจน์ เอื้อศรีเป็นคริสเตียนขณะที่เรียนอยู่ชั้นมัธยมที่ประเทศไทย ท่านเป็นคริสเตียนคนแรกในครอบครัวและหลังจากนั้นทุกคนในครอบครัวก็ได้มารู้จักพระเจ้า ศาสนาจารย์สุพจน์เริ่มรับใช้พระเจ้าด้วยการเป็นผู้นำกลุ่มอนุชนในคริสตจักรและผู้นำอนุชนคริสเตียนภาคกลางคริสตจักรสัมพันธ์แห่งประเทศไทย เมื่อจบชั้นมัธยมปลาย ท่านได้เข้าศึกษาพระคัมภีร์ที่วิทยาลัยพระคริสธรรมกรุงเทพ ขณะที่ศึกษาที่นั่นท่านได้ร่วมทีมก่อตั้งคริสตจักรสัจจธรรมกรุงเทพ ในปี 1994 ท่านได้รับทุนการศึกษาที่ Calvary Chapel Bible College รัฐแคลิฟอร์เนีย ขณะที่ศึกษาที่นั่นท่านได้ร่วมรับใช้กับคริสตจักรไทยหลายแห่งในแคลิฟอร์เนีย หลังจากจบการศึกษาได้สมรสกับอาจารย์ปฏิมา คงสืบชาติ ในปี 1997 ท่านได้ไปศึกษาต่อระดับปริญญาโทสาขาศาสนศาสตร์ที่ Ashland Theological Seminary, Ohio ท่านและภรรยาได้ร่วมรับใช้กับคริสตจักร Church of the Saviour Wooster, Ohio และสำเร็จการศึกษาในปี 2000
อาจารย์ปฏิมาเติบโตขึ้นในครอบครัวคริสเตียน ขณะที่ศึกษาอยู่ที่จุฬาลงกรณมหาวิทยาลัยก็ได้เรียนรู้เกี่ยวกับความเชื่อคริสเตียนมากขึ้นจากคุณแม่และเพื่อนๆคริสเตียน หลังจากจบการศึกษาก็ได้ศึกษาต่อระดับปริญญาโทด้านศาสนศาสตร์ที่พระคริสตธรรมกรุงเทพและได้พบกับศาสนาจารย์สุพจน์ที่นั่น ขณะที่ศึกษาที่นั่นอาจารย์ปฏิมาได้เริ่มแปลวรรณกรรมคริสเตียนและเขียนบทความในนิตยสารคริสเตียน ในปี 1992 ได้เข้ารับการศึกษาต่อระดับปริญญาโทสาขา Communications ที่ Wheaton College, Illinois เมื่อจบการศึกษาจากที่นั่น ได้ไปเป็นอาจารย์ประจำที่มหาวิทยาลัยรังสิต เป็นอาจารย์สอนบางเวลาที่พระคริสตธรรมกรุงเทพ รับใช้ที่คริสตจักรมหาพรสุขุมวิท แปลรายการสารคดีต่างประเทศให้ยูบีซีเคเบิลทีวี แปลหนังสืออธิบายพระคัมภีร์สองชุด (The Lion Handbook to the Bible and the Bible Knowledge Commentary by Dallas Theological Seminary faculty) และวรรณกรรมคริสเตียนอื่นๆอีกหลายเล่ม
อาจารย์สุพจน์และภรรยาได้เดินทางมาที่ Washington D.C. ในเดือนตุลาคม ปี 2001 เพื่อก่อตั้งคริสตจักรไทยและในเดือนสิงหาคมปี 2002 คริสตจักรไทยวอชิงตันดีซีก็ได้เริ่มนมัสการครั้งแรก
Rev. Supot Ouasi and his wife, Pat, are from Thailand, where 95% of the population is Buddhist. Rev. Supot became a Christian at a youth camp, when he was in high school in Chainat province, Thailand . He was the first one in his family to become a Christian, and now everyone in his family are believers. After high school, he came to study at Bangkok Bible College. While studying there, he was in church planting team starting a church at Huay Kwang district in Bangkok. Rev. Supot came to further his study at Ashland Theological Seminary in Ohio and graduated in 2000.
Pat became a Christian while she was in college as a result of the influence of both her mother and Christian friends. Pat graduated with a Masters degree in Communications from Wheaton College and is a professional translator and interpreter. She taught full-time at Rangsit University, Communication Department and part-time at Bangkok Bible College. She wrote articles in Christian magazine and has translated two sets of Bible commentaries (Lion Handbook to the Bible and the Bible Knowledge Commentary by Dallas Theological Seminary faculty) and several bestselling Christian books.
Supot and Pat moved to the Washington D.C. area in October 2001 to start a Thai church with help from the Division of Outreach, Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. One of their friends, who used to live in this area, gave the phone number of a Thai Christian lady they had met. They started the first Bible study at her home in February 2002.
On August 11, 2002, the Thai Church Washington D.C. held its first Sunday afternoon service at Advent Lutheran Church located in Arlington, Virginia. There were 24 Thai people present at that first service.
Today, the Thai Church Washington D.C. continues to reach local Thai people through a network of its friends and members, friends that bring friends, an ad in the monthly Thai newspaper, Thai Student Association websites for area universities and colleges, and flyer at local Thai restaurants and grocery stores.
Washington D.C. is the fourth largest Thai community in America; however, until 2002, it did not have a single Thai church. The three larger Thai communities in the U.S. are located in Los Angeles, New York, and Chicago. In those three cities, there are several Thai churches. It was for this reason that the Thai Church Washington D.C. ministry was begun. The church's goal is to nurture existing Thai Christians and reach other Thai people in the Washington D.C. area for Christ.
Our Beliefs
1. We believe in the only true Triune God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
2. We believe the Holy Bible is a complete revelation of God and is the foundation of faith and instruction for all Christians.
3. We believe that man was created in the image of God but man committed sins and must die physically and spiritually which is a separation from God. Every man was born with a sinful nature, thus he has sinful thoughts, deeds, and speeches.
4. We believe that salvation, together with eternal life, is a gift from God which man can receive by his repentance, by publicly receiving baptism, and by confessing that Jesus Christ is God and Savior.
5. We believe that water baptism and the Holy Communion are commanded by Jesus Christ for us to practice and we believe that salvation is by God’s grace alone and not by our own works. (Ephesians 2:8-9)
6. We believe that the Holy Spirit is the Person who gives spiritual gifts and fruit of the Spirit to every believer to serve God.
7. We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, He was born by a virgin by the power of the Holy Spirit.
8. We believe that Jesus Christ resurrected from the dead and ascended to heaven. He is the High Priest for every believer. He will come back again the second time with power and glory to complete His kingdom.
9. We believe that whoever has received Jesus Christ by faith has the privilege to be a child of God and to receive eternal life.
10. We believe that the church is the body of Jesus Christ and has the responsibility to preach the gospel of Christ throughout the world.
11. We believe that Satan is a real person and is doing his work throughout the world by destroying the spirits of people, but he and his angels will be eternally punished in the lake of fire.
